
Ana Bohdan (WTA 59) came close to pulling off an upset in the second round of the WTA 1000 in Rome, but ended up losing to France’s Caroline Garcia (WTA 4), 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

The fifth favorite of the tournament started the match very well and led in the first set, which she won, although the Romanian came back from 2-0 to 4-4.
Garcia led 1-0 in the second set as well, but Ana Bohdan made a great comeback, winning four games in a row, and managed to turn the match into a decider.
The third set was tied and Ana led 5-3 and had a chance to close out the match in her favour, but Caroline Garcia’s experience spoke for itself and she eventually qualified.
The game lasted 2 hours and 26 minutes.
In the third round, Caroline Garica will meet Colombian Camila Osorio (100 WTA).
For the ticket from Rome, Ana Bohdan secured a prize of 12,652 euros and 35 points in the WTA rating.
WTA Rome takes place from May 9 to 20 on the clay in the Foro Italico complex. His total prize money is $3,572,618 and is in the “WTA 1000” category. Iga Svyatek became the champion of the last two competitions.
