Ashley Barty hopes that Simona Halep will return to the court as soon as possible

Barty is expecting her first child, and in an interview with The Guardian, the Australian says that she keeps in touch with Simona, they are close friends.

Ashley hopes that Simone will have a chance to prove her innocence and return to where she loves the most, the tennis court.

“I love and respect Simo. I’ve been talking to her quite a bit over the last 12 months or so. I wanted to see how he was doing. He is an incredible person.

I sincerely hope she gets a chance to speak her mind and explain her side (not about doping) because there are always two sides to every story.

I think it’s hard to find anyone who wouldn’t want to see her back out there (off the tennis court) doing what she loves, competing on the big stage against the best in the world,” he says. Ashley Barty referring to the situation in which Simona Halep found herself.

In a statement on its official website, the ITIA (not the International Tennis Integrity Agency) sets out exactly what steps it takes in the case of an athlete who tests positive, such as Simona Halep.

After the former WTA leader said in a wide-ranging interview with Tennis Majors that her process was taking too long and that she wanted some clarification from those involved in the matter, the ITIA is presenting a comprehensive statement.

In a post on the ITIA’s official website, it also makes a conclusion that could also be applied to Simona Halep’s case: such a doping trial could last up to a year before a final verdict is reached.

The ITIA sets out the steps that are usually followed in the following doping cases: testing / samples sent to the laboratory / analysis report / analysis of the results / contact with the player / provisional suspension / accusation of the athlete / player response / player fully admits / player admits only in part / decision and sanction / player rejects / court / court decision and sanction / appeal.
