Outgoing Prime Minister of Finland Sana Marine filed for divorce along with her husband Markus Raikkonen, which they announced today on Instagram.
“We are grateful for the 19 years we have lived together and for our beloved daughter. We will remain best friends,” they wrote in separate posts.
Marin and Raikkonen, who until recently worked at a venture capital firm, have a 5-year-old daughter. They got married in 2020 when Marin was battling the Covid-19 pandemic as prime minister.
“We lived our youth together, grew up together and became the parents of our beloved daughter,” Marin wrote on Instagram at the time after her wedding in August 2020.
Marina’s social-democratic party was defeated in last month’s parliamentary elections, finishing third behind the centre-right National Coalition Party and the nationalist Finns Party.
Marin, 37, was the world’s youngest prime minister when she took office in 2019. Fans consider her.
