
Additional Responsibilities Margaret Ropes and Margrethe Vestager was granted its President Commission, Ursula von der Leyen following Boyko Borissov’s announcement that former Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Affairs Maria Gabriel will be a candidate for Prime Minister Bulgaria.
In particular, the Deputy Press Secretary of the Commission, Dana Spinand, noted during a regular briefing for correspondents in Brussels that “the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has since today granted Commissioner Maria Gabrielle leave without pay to participate in the efforts to form a government in Bulgaria.”
“During this period, Ms. Gabriel’s portfolio is being transferred to Executive Vice President Margrethe Vestager and Vice President Margaritis Sheena in accordance with stipulated interagency arrangements,” Ms. Spinand added.
