Sergio Busquets is leaving FC Barcelona.

Busquets made his debut for Barcelona’s first team in 2008.

The central midfielder, who captained the Catalans after Messi left in the summer of 2021, will not renew his contract, which expires on June 30.

“One of the best players in the history of the club will leave Barcelona at the end of the season,” the La Liga leader announced in a statement.

The Spaniard is the third most capped player in Barca’s history with 719 appearances, ahead of only Xavi (767) and Lionel Messi (778).

“It was an unforgettable adventure, an honor and a source of pride to be able to wear this badge, but everything has an end” – Sergio Busquets.

He won 8 La Ligas, 7 Spanish Cups, 7 Spanish Super Cups, 3 Champions Leagues and 3 Club World Cups.

Busquets is also the world (2010) and European (2012) champion as part of the Spanish national team.
