A heroin-trafficking ring was busted by DIICOT and a police officer was also arrested in the case, accused of supporting the trafficking ring. According to prosecutors, members of the network organized and coordinated repeat transactions of heroin, which they sold in Bucharest.

According to DIICOT, the prosecutor’s office detained three people for the crimes of creating an organized criminal group, illegal drug trafficking, receiving a bribe, giving a bribe, aiding and abetting a criminal, disclosing official or non-public information, illegal access to an IT system, and driving a vehicle while disqualified. Later, the Bucharest Court issued a warrant of preventive arrest for 30 days on their behalf.

Prosecutors say it is a high-risk drug-trafficking group created during 2022, whose members organized and coordinated repeated operations with heroin.

After they got hold of the drugs, the heroin was prepared for sale by mixing it with various substances in order to make as much profit as possible. Later it was sold in Bucharest, only to people whom the group members had complete confidence in.

During the investigation on April 15, a batch of heroin weighing about one kilogram was discovered and seized.

Heroin dealers with the support of the police

DIICOT prosecutors claim that one of the detainees is an employee of the judicial police, who is accused of aiding and abetting the organized crime group between November 2022 and April 2023.

According to the investigation, in March the police officer informed one of the group’s leaders that he was undergoing criminal proceedings, handed over both the subject of the case and those involved in the case, and advised how to act. to avoid criminal liability.

• “In April 2023, despite the fact that he became aware of the commission of the crime of illegal drug trafficking in the amount of approximately one kilogram of heroin, he did not take the necessary measures, in accordance with his duties, in the case he worked on, gave advice . to the other two defendants as to how they should proceed to avoid prosecution.
• During March 2023, the defendant unlawfully disclosed non-public information obtained through access to databases by unlawfully accessing the computer systems on which the databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are stored.
• Carrying out the same criminal order, at the end of March 2023 he received some goods from the leader of the OZH and on 22.04.2023 he accepted his promise to give him a mobile phone to warn him.
