Alexis Tsipras: This time we will rule not with the Troika, but with the Greek people

Legislative content law with three main provisions, announced as the first action of his government the day after the election. Alexis Tsipras who expressed confidence that the majority of society wants political change.

Speaking at a meeting in Piraeus, Mr. Tsipras promised that from the first day of his administration, a Law on Legislative Content will be introduced, which will include three things: “Firstly, all first auctions of houses will be suspended until the plan we have presented implemented and also signed by Lukas Katselis. We will never again see such images as the 80-year-old invalid in Halkidiki, who was kicked out of his home for being a guarantor in his son’s house. The second will be the reduction of VAT to the lowest rate or even zero rate on food and the reduction of VAT on fuel to the minimum rate allowed by the EU. The third will be the abolition of the minimum entry base for universities. Because we don’t want our kids to be a source of income for college owners. Our plan is realistic and cost effective.”

“So far with deceit, persecution, arrogance, nepotism, dirty self-interest,” Mr. Tsipras said, adding: “The time has come for the Greek people to put an end to this. I want to tell you that I am very proud to be fighting this great battle as a candidate in the Piraeus region. It is a city of great political struggle, it is the country’s first port. We are signaling victory at today’s meeting to be the first party in Piraeus and Greece, because this will pave the way for a progressive government.”

He then attacked the government: “For four years now, the Mitsotakis government has been failing to address the critical problems it was designed to face: it failed during the pandemic, we have the highest number of deaths, it has not been able to cope with the energy crisis. , we are the country with the most expensive electricity and fuel prices, it has widened inequality, it has abolished the eight-hour day in practice, it is targeting young people. He deceived and targeted the vast majority of society, he deceived the middle class who today need coupons to survive. Our whole life has become a pass. It’s time to say to Mitsotakis, “Pass, go home.” But at the same time, when he deceived the middle class, the workers, the fighters for labor, he favored the few and the powerful. While a large segment of our fellow citizens do not make ends meet, 15 large companies are showing record profitability over the past 20 years. We must put an end to this injustice. At the same time, in the last 4 years we have seen the collapse of the rule of law with the illegal wiretapping of the prime minister’s office, we see how they manipulate the judiciary and even interfere with which parties will participate from the right-wing apartment building.

He further referred to the rule of law and called “yesterday’s European Parliament resolution a stumbling block for the government and Mr. “is synonymous with the Hungarian Orbán. and makes recommendations for the restoration of the rule of law in Greece and for the EYP not to spy on its political opponents. This skunk will always accompany Mr. Mitsotakis.”

He then wondered: “If they were given a chance to rule again, how would they behave, what worse would they do to this place?” add: “This is why the election is not a random vote, it is an election that will decide our lives in the next four years. They will allow change or allow those who committed crimes to continue.”

He then mentioned the prospect of forming a government with simple proportional representation: “Mr. Mitsotakis says he will not use simple proportional representation. Do not believe. If he wins, even with half the detachment, he will try to form a government through pressure, blackmail, desertion, as is customary in this family.

Then he turned to other forces – PASOK and KKE. Regarding the KKE, he said that “it is impossible for them to choose the ahistorical tactics of two fronts and equalization, to repeat the mistakes of the past, the logic of ‘which Plastiras, which Papagos’.” If anything can save the people, it is the unity of the progressive forces.” He addressed Nikos Androulakis “who appears to be the exclusive heir of Andreas Papandreou”, saying that “Papandreou did not have two fronts: he had only one opponent, the right one.”

He referred to the accident at Tempe. which, he noted, “was driven by the government’s decision to discredit the railroad, privatize the railroad project, and replace the bribed stationmaster with an untrained and unskilled man. They told a bunch of lies about the accident to avoid liability. The characteristic of Mr. Mitsotakis is that he is the prime minister of irresponsibility. Ten days after Tempi, the children of DAKE trade unionists were assigned to OSE outside of ASEP. They believe that the state belongs to them. We believe that the state belongs to the people, not to the nomenklatura.”

He accused the prime minister of “engaging in black propaganda, saying that if SYRIZA comes, more disasters are coming. That supposedly this is a party that will take us out of the euro and bankrupt us. But the Greek people do not forget who was the party that bankrupted us twice: once in 2009, when the deficit remained at 15% of GDP, and the second time in 2015, when the treasury was left empty.”

He called 150 euros for an 18-year-old to vote for him “disrespectful and underestimated” and added that “they are trying to convince the SYRIZA program is worth 80 billion. By the time of the elections, it can even reach 180 billion.” “But how much does the program cost?” that Mr. Mitsotakis applied to human life and suffering?”.

Addressing voters, he said that “together we can win this election battle” and added: “We know and we can make a difference. We are not asking for a second chance, we are asking for a first chance to implement our program without coercion. We learned from our mistakes. This time we will rule not with the Troika, but with the Greek people, and we will live up to their expectations.”

Reminiscent of George Papandreou, he posed the dilemma: “Will we change or keep sinking?” Will there be hope with rising wages and falling prices, or will the supermarket remain a nightmare? Will we see the biggest redistribution of wealth when 700,000 properties go into funds, or will there be a program to protect the first home, agricultural land and commercial housing?”

Finally, he reaffirmed his openness to voters of all political stripes, stating: “It doesn’t matter who is right, left or center. We want to reach out to all Greek men and women and reassure them that we can make the change they want and need. So the dilemma of Mitsotakis or change, Mitsotakis or SYRIZA-PS, first and with a margin to pave the way for change. I am sure that he will choose change, May 21 will be celebrated by the people, and not by the powers that be, cartels and vested interests.”
