“The promotion of such scenarios is currently an exaggeration. Obviously, he is automatically our candidate,” Ionuc Stroe said when asked by the “Proiect de rânia: Romania” program whether Nicolae Cuke is the NLP candidate in the presidential elections, news.ro notes.

“From our point of view, this is the profile that is ideal for this position, he proved not only competence, not only decency, moderation, but in relations between the parties in the coalition, he was a balanced person, he was a person who was always very oriented more on seriousness and work than on political contests and lower stakes,” said a spokesman for the National Liberal Party.

And PNL Secretary General Lucian Bode said last week that his party wanted a good candidate in the presidential election for a liberal to lead Romania for the next five years, suggesting that Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuc was the best option for the Cotroceni seat.

“The PNL aims to govern Romania well this year and next year, in order to get a good result in the elections next year, so that we will govern Romania after 2024,” PNL Secretary General Lucian Bode said on TVR Info on Wednesday night, according to news. ro.

He said that the liberals want to win the presidential election.

“We propose that next year we have a candidate who will be the president of Romania for the next 5 years. A candidate with a chance to become the president of Romania. Today, the president of the PNL is an option to run for the post of president of Romania,” Bode said, referring to Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuc.

He said that the government round will be held “without unnecessary discussions”.

“I have always said that the direction in which Romania will move is important to me. It is important for me that the PNL remains in the government after 2024 (…). Under these conditions, I will remain in the future government, if the NLP wants it, if the president of Romania and the president of the NLP support me,” Bode said.
