On Monday, the Kremlin strongly condemned the statements of the head of military intelligence of Ukraine, General Kyryl Budanov, about Kyiv’s readiness to kill “Russians all over the world”, reports TASS.
“This is a truly appalling statement. This statement and what Mr. Budanov said is a direct confirmation that the Kyiv regime not only sponsors terrorist activities, but is a direct organizer of such activities,” Kremlin press secretary Dmytro Peskov said.
He emphasized that Russia strongly condemns such statements.
“We have special services that will do everything necessary based on such statements. No one should have any doubts about this,” warned the press secretary of President Vladimir Putin.
He also noted that the Kremlin is confident that the West should not ignore such words.
“Today, we will very carefully observe the reaction of European capitals, as well as Washington, especially Washington, because it is very difficult to imagine that such terrorist statements from Kyiv can go unpunished. Therefore, today we will wait for these verdicts,” he added.
“After all, this statement by Mr. Budanov once again confirms the correctness of the president’s decision [Vladimir] Putin will launch a special military operation “against Ukraine,” Dmytro Peskov concluded.
General Budanov’s comment, which angered Russia
The Kremlin’s reaction came after Kirill Budanov was questioned on Sunday about the alleged involvement of his special services in strikes on targets in Russia and Ukrainian territories occupied by Moscow’s armed forces, in particular questioning the murder of Daria Dugina last August.
“The only thing I will comment on is that we killed Russians and will continue to kill Russians anywhere in the world until the complete victory of Ukraine,” he replied, Kyiv Independent reports.
This statement caused outrage in Russia: Volodymyr Jabarov, deputy chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Federation Council, the lower house of the Russian parliament, told Moscow media that Budanov had “gone mad and turned into Osama bin Laden of Ukraine.” “.
Volodymyr Solovyov, one of the most famous Russian propagandists, had a nervous breakdown while commenting on this statement, threatening to launch missile strikes on the building where Budanov’s intelligence headquarters is located in Kyiv.
“A handful of missiles would help awaken the self-preservation instinct of the leadership of Ukraine (…) only an order is needed,” he said during one of the broadcasts.
This statement of the Ukrainian official was also commented on by the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, who stated that “the regime in Kyiv has actually announced that the Biden administration is sponsoring terrorism.”
On April 21, a Moscow court issued an arrest warrant for General Kyril Budanov, accusing him of organizing “terrorist attacks” on the territory of Russia.
