
Police in Serbia have arrested three teenagers for possession of firearms and threats to kill after killings by two young men this week left 17 dead and 21 injured in the country, local media reported on Saturday, as quoted by EFE.
After a neighbor’s complaint, the police arrested a 17-year-old teenager in Vranje, in the south of Serbia, who had a weapon at home, the B92 portal reports.
Another 14-year-old boy was arrested in Sremska Mitrovica, in the east of the country, after he posted a message on social media saying he would “do the same” as a 13-year-old student from Belgrade who killed nine yatoh people on Wednesday at the school, including eight students.
Police arrested a 15-year-old boy in Knjaževac, in southeastern Serbia, who threatened to kill his classmate.
After Wednesday’s massacre at a school in Belgrade, a 21-year-old man opened fire on passers-by in a town south of Belgrade two days later, killing eight people.
The two attackers were detained by the Serbian police.
Serbia’s president, the populist Aleksandar Vučić, announced Friday a drastic reduction in the number of firearms in his country, which according to some studies has the third-highest number of guns per capita in the world. (Agerpress)
