Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has accepted an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to be the person of honor at the French military parade to mark the anniversary of the Bastille on July 14, the French Presidency announced today.
“A detachment of the Indian armed forces will take part in the parade along with French troops,” the president said in a statement, adding that Modi’s visit would coincide with the 25th anniversary of the “strategic partnership” between France and India.
“This historic visit will also allow us to take joint initiatives on the major issues of our time, such as climate change, biodiversity loss and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals,” it added.
