The leader of Wagner’s mercenary company Yevgeny Prigozhin appeared on camera next to dozens of the bodies of his soldiers, criticizing the Russian army command more than ever for its lack of ammunition.
Later, he announced that from May 10, “Wagner” would withdraw from the battle for Bakhmut “to lick its wounds.”
Prigozhin; “Shoigu, Gerasimov! Where’s the ammunition?”
In a particularly brutal clip, in which the bodies of dozens of dead mercenaries are visible, Prigozhin attacked the leaders of the Moscow army without any preparation:
- “These are the guys from Wagner who died today. The blood is still fresh. (to whoever is holding the camera) Shoot them all!
- Now listen to me, you damn whores. THEY are someone’s parents and sons. And these dragonflies who don’t give us ammunition will eat their guts in hell.
- We have a 70% shortage of ammunition! Shoigu, Gerasimov! Where are the ammunition! Look at them (points to the corpses).
- You scum sit in expensive clubs. Your kids live their lives making videos for Youtube.
- You think that you are the masters of this life and that you have the right to control us. You think if you have a stockpile of ammunition you have the right to it.
- Calculations are simple, if there is ammunition, then we have five times less (points to the dead behind him). They volunteered and are dying for you to escape, in your redwood offices. Think about it!”

He announced Wagner’s departure from Bakhmut
Later on Friday, in a sudden and dramatic announcement, he said his troops would leave the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, which he had been trying to capture since last summer.
“On behalf of the Wagner fighters, on behalf of the Wagner command, I declare that from May 10, 2023, we are obliged to hand over the positions of the settlement of Bakhmut to the units of the Ministry of Defense and take the remnants of the Wagner to the logistics camps to lick our wounds,” Prigozhin said in a press release.
“I am withdrawing the PKK from Bakhmut, because without ammunition they are doomed to a senseless death,” he added.
