Stefanos Tsitsipas (5 ATP) finished the week with a quarter-final appearance at the tournament in Madrid.

The Greek was unexpectedly knocked out by Jan-Lennard Struff (65 ATP), at the end of a very balanced match, but in which the German won. It took the athlete, who is not in the ATP top 50, two hours and 32 minutes to overtake the fourth favorite in Madrid.

Thus, Jan-Lennard Struff advances to the semifinals, where he will meet with Russian Aslan Karatsev (121 ATP). He advanced to the quarters against Zhizhen Zhang, 7-6(3), 6-4.
