The Ferrari F40 is the dream car of many enthusiasts. An icon of the firm’s racing history, the F40 also entered the car pantheon through the front door, and today it is somewhat of a Holy Grail for any collector.

It is not uncommon to see a Ferrari F40 for sale on the market, especially at auction. But when it comes models with chassis number 83249it is quite possible that this particular car will meet with some enthusiasm among collectors.

Completely original car

For what ? Only because this Ferrari F40 belonged to Alain Prostthree-time world champion from France in Formula 1. Alain Prost was at the peak of his career when he was handed the keys to the car when he joined Scuderia Ferrari in 1990.

This model is still in excellent condition today. The French driver received the car in late 1989, but he never used it and soon sold it. It was a certain Graham de Zille, a business manager and Ferrari Challenge driver, who bought it and drove it for several years in the United Kingdom.

The car has changed owners several times, but has always been carefully maintained and remains in exceptional condition to this day. It is also certified Ferrari Classiche, which means it retains all of its original components, including the engine, gearbox and various elements that make up the body.

To a record price?

The car is currently in France and several parts were replaced during the March 2019 service at the Ferrari dealership in Lyon. RM Sotheby’s clarifies that the tires are now 10 years old, but a future customer will receive special rubber in better condition from 2018. The car only reflects 4600 km on the odometer.

How much this model will be exchanged remains to be seen, especially since the fact that it belonged to Alain Prost will undoubtedly weigh on the scales. The F40 will be auctioned from May 10 to 12 with no reserve price. Initial estimates indicate a sales price of approx three million euros.
