In open dialogue with young people at Avdi Square (Metaxourgeio) o Janis Varoufakis focused on the problems of the education system.
He pointed out that the youth faced a dilemma: “remain in their country under the regime of working galleys or fulfill their dreams abroad. Of course, this does not apply to all young people. The children of the ruling class are preparing to enter foreign universities from high school. Whereas most of the children in this country remain trapped in an education system that prepares them to serve those who return from actual training in overseas training centers.
At the same time, at a campaign event for his Youth Day 25 – Alliance Beyond the Rift, its leader spoke of “a system that has been shaped by memos and there is no reason for the ruling class to change. We have to uproot it and rebuild it from kindergarten to university.”
In addition, he said, “A handful of companies are buying our nation’s services and infrastructure, from checkpoints to colleges that they want to equate to our universities. The foreign and local oligarchy takes root deeper and deeper in our country and commodifies everything, identifying even itself with the commodity. Only a break can stop it.”
At another point, the head of MeRA25 – Alliance for Rupture launched a fierce attack on the ruling party, saying – according to relevant information – about “fascists such as Mr. Georgiadis, Mr. Pleuris, Mr. Vorides”, whom the Prime Minister has in his parties. And who, Mr. Mitsotakis, “closes both eyes with the Right Fence on Evros and the repulsions of death in the Aegean. At the same time, he has the audacity to say that MeRA25 – Alliance for the Break is looking for votes from the far right. For their part, at this moment, young people shouted the slogan: “And now, and always, and, like Saranda, we will always fight against poverty and fascism.”
In his greeting, the candidate for Athens for the first member of parliament and secretary of the LAE – A.A. Mariana Cichli noted: “My generation was the first to experience memos and austerity by leaving the universities. They doomed us to exclusion or labor poverty if we stay in our country.” And added: “There are solutions: abolishing prepayment of taxes, Hercules , the energy exchange. The prerequisite, of course, is a break, so that things are different.” Finally, he countered that “we do not accept the management of suffering as normal. We continue to honor the bold NO on the 15th, as always, by refusing ministerial seats and offices to stay true to our people’s mandate.” The event was opened by Yovi Maraga, MeRA25 youth coordinator, who civilized what she called inhumane working conditions.
