According to the testimony of a resuscitator who visited Georgina after the attack on the girl in Caramandanio in April 2021, when the minor was transferred to the University Hospital of Patras, her trial continued. Roulas Pispirigou.
ICU doctor Efstratia Sahinidou described all stages of the child’s hospitalization from the moment he arrived by ambulance at the intensive care unit in Rio until his discharge in July 2021 and after he was transferred to Onasio and returned to Patras University Hospital.
In the days leading up to January 29, 2022, it was also mentioned that the child was again transferred to the Rio hospital. On January 29, Georgina, according to the case file, was killed by her mother in the Children’s Hospital of Athens.
The process today was also accompanied by tension, although the defendant’s side filed three lawsuits for perjury, two against the resuscitator and a third against a nurse in Rio (the woman testified on Friday).
Rula Pispirigou’s defense said they would also sue a previous witness, Rio hospital nurse Georgia Papanika, for perjury because she “concealed that she was a cousin and friend of Manos Daskalakis.”
Dr. Sahinidou told the court that the first assessment of Georgina’s heart condition was good when, after the attack, the little girl was taken to the intensive care unit, where she remained intubated for twelve days. She also showed that the child had increased hypertension and spasticity after extubation and appeared to be unresponsive to stimuli.
The doctor was asked about the therapeutic hypothermia the child was placed in when he arrived from Caramandanio in Rio, and she replied that it was the internationally recommended method of arrest to reduce organ damage and protect the brain from swelling.
