They have lived on the music scene for over 50 years and are now ready to say goodbye to their audience. Aerosmiththe legendary American rock band is preparing a tour that is expected to begin in the fall.
A farewell tour called “Peace Out” will begin on September 2 in Philadelphia and will include 40 concerts. Between stops, the band will play a show in their hometown of Boston on New Year’s Eve. The tour will end on January 26 in Montreal.
“I think it’s about time,” guitarist Joe Perry told The Associated Press.
“This is an opportunity to celebrate 50 years of presence,” Perry said. “You never know how long everyone will be healthy enough for us to play shows… It’s been a long time since we did a real tour. We played in Vegas and it was great. It was fun, but (we) really want to get back on the road.”
However, the band’s drummer Joey Kramer was absent from the tour.
“While Joey Kramer remains a beloved founding member of Aerosmith, he has unfortunately made the decision not to stick to his scheduled tour dates in order to focus his full attention on his family and health,” the statement said. We will greatly miss Joey’s undeniable and legendary presence behind the drum kit.”
