
Air defense systems went into action on Monday morning after Russian missile attacks in the Kyiv region, local authorities said, according to Reuters.
Emergency services announced alarms throughout Ukraine.
“Active air defense!” – they wrote in the Telegram messenger of the Kyiv Regional State Administration after the explosions occurred in the region.
“Keep calm! Stay in shelters until the anti-aircraft alert ends!”, she added.
Ukrainian mass media also reported on explosions in Dnipropetrovsk and Sumy regions.
The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, also announced the activity of air defense and urged citizens not to ignore air warning sirens, Kyiv Independent reports.
Many residents of the capital obeyed the alarm and went to bomb shelters, including the subway.
