General Valery Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, met with General Christopher Kavoli, Supreme Commander of NATO’s SAC in Europe (SACEUR), to discuss possible battle scenarios and further actions of Ukraine, reports Ukrainian Pravda.
“I held an extended meeting with the Supreme Commander of NATO Europe, the head of the US European Command, General Christopher Cavoli. We discussed a wide range of issues important to us. We talked in detail about the operational situation along the entire front line. We have described possible scenarios, threats and prerequisites for our further actions. Our goal is to be ready to achieve our goals as much as possible,” Zaluzhny said in Telegram.
Zaluzhnyi and Kavoli also discussed the training of the Ukrainian military. They agreed to maintain contact and continue cooperation to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said on Friday that Ukraine is finalizing preparations for a long-awaited counteroffensive against Russian forces and is mostly ready for it.
“As soon as there is the will of God, the weather and the command’s decision, we will do it,” Reznikov said at an online briefing.
Kyiv hopes that the planned counteroffensive will change the dynamics of the war that has raged since Russia invaded Ukraine 14 months ago.
Russia holds Ukrainian territories in the east, south and southeast. The Ukrainian military said in its latest daily report on the war that the small town in the east of the country, Bakhmut, remains at the center of hostilities.
