Szijjártó said that “fortunately” Zelensky is not deciding whether Hungary’s behavior is in line with its NATO membership because “the Hungarian people have already paid an extremely high price for this war” and “more Hungarians are members of the Transcarpathian Hungarian community.” regions – died in this war”

“If this statement means: ‘I respectfully thank the Hungarians for accepting and caring for over a million refugees from Ukraine, and I respectfully thank you for continuing to send aid!’ , then “with pleasure and you can count on us in the future. “

It will be recalled that in an extended interview with the Scandinavian press, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, criticized the behavior of Hungary, stressing that its relations with Russia do not correspond to its status as a NATO member.

“How to resolve the dispute with Budapest? The only question is what Budapest wants. It seems to me that there is political confusion among the political elites in Hungary. A very strange situation: can a NATO country stick to Russia and be against NATO?”.

According to Zelenskyi, no NATO ally can support a country that considers the North Atlantic Alliance an enemy.

“I think this is unreasonable behavior. I express my subjective opinion. An ally is not only words, but also beliefs and actions. This is a union of states with the same vision of security and values. They have different attitudes to certain moments, but there is a treaty of allies who protect each other and their values,” said the Kyiv leader.

The President of Ukraine believes that Hungary should not influence Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

Ukraine was also dissatisfied with Hungary’s restriction of the import of Ukrainian wheat, which called this decision “categorically unacceptable”.

“Such restrictions, no matter how justified they may be, do not respect the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, nor the principles and rules of the single European market,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kyiv claims.

“There are full legal grounds for the immediate resumption of exports of Ukrainian agricultural products to Poland, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria, as well as for the continuation of unlimited exports to other EU countries,” the document states.

The European Commission announced on Friday that it had reached an agreement with five countries, four of which have restricted some agricultural imports from Ukraine on the grounds that they disrupt domestic markets. Romania also complained about the consequences of the influx of cheap Ukrainian grain.

For his part, Zelensky said that the ban on grain imports by several EU countries “gives dangerous hopes to the Kremlin.”
