Craiova University and FCSB meet in a match where each of the two teams needs a win to stay in contention for the title or at least a place in the European Cups.

Craiova University is in 4th place with 35 points, two points behind FCSB, the team in 3rd place, the last to offer the possibility of access to the Conference League, provided that Sepsi wins the Romanian Cup.

After a shaky start to the play-offs, with two draws and a defeat, the team coached by Eugen Neagoe is now in full form and has won the last two matches, 3-1 at home against Rapid and 2-1 away against Sepsi.

“It’s a tough match and we have to prove our worth. And it is important for players. From the goalkeeper, to the striker, to the reserves! This is an important match, the rest are partial exams, so to speak. In this playoff, there are no favorites and no favourites,” said Mihai Rotaru, patron of the University of Craiova.

FCSB is in 3rd place with 37 points and could miss out not only on the title, but also on qualifying for the European Cups, after losing 1-2 to Rapid in Giulesti.

It was the first failure of the Elias Charalambous-coached team in the playoffs after two wins and two draws, which leader Farul took full advantage of and moved to the top of the rankings.

Gigi Bekali, the owner of FCSB, strongly denied the refereeing of the match in Julesti and said that he is ready to sell the team in exchange for 25 million euros: “I will give the team even if there is an offer from China, Africa, England… I am not interested anymore! Give me 25 million euros! I give the team, players, colors!”.

In the regular season, “University of Craiova” defeated FCSB on September 18, 2022 at home with a score of 2-1 (Mitrea 32p, Oaide 66a, respectively, Compaño 45+6p), and in return on February 19, 2023, the score was equal (Ejuma 1, respectively, I.
