Mark Selby managed to finish the meeting with Mark Allen in time, the score 17-15 and reached the final of the World Snooker Championship.

Four-time Crucible champion Selby won the first five frames of the final session and qualification for the final action appeared to be a mere formality (16-10).

Allen gave the feeling that he could come back, he came close to one frame (16-15), but the Englishman eventually prevailed before the deciding frame (17-15).

Know:

• The “Jester from Leicester” will play Luca Bresel (World No. 10) in the grand final after the Belgian made an incredible comeback against Xi Jiahui (5-14 to 17-15).

• Mark Selby will mark his sixth WC snooker final. He lost the first (in 2007 to John Higgins), but made up for it in the next four: (2014, 2016, 2017 and 2021).

How the final of the World Snooker Championship will be held

In the grand final, the winner will be determined by the “best of 35 frames”.

There will be 8 frames in the first session of the final. The second session will consist of 9 frames, the third will consist of 8 frames. Finally, the final session will have a maximum of 10 frames (may or may not all be played, depending on the score on the table).

Winner: £500,000

Second place: £200,000

Semi-Final: £100,000

Quarters: £50,000

Second round: £30,000

First round: £20,000.
