The combined effects of extreme temperatures and dryness have catastrophic economic and environmental consequences and could seriously affect life in increasingly large parts of Romania, as well as in many regions of Europe. And this despite the fact that the end of March and the beginning of April captured Romania under a wave of cold and rain, which, however, is only an exception that reinforces the rule.

In the last month of last year, the largest increase in the average temperature in the entire history of temperature records in the country was recorded: by more than one degree Celsius. This alarming record comes after a drought that in 2022 affected 800,000 of the country’s 5.4 million hectares of grain-cultivated land.
