
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergei Lavrov told the UN Security Council that the world had reached the state of affairs even more dangerous than during the Cold War.
Lavrov presided over a meeting on multilateralism and the founding charter of the UN, because in April Russia chairs this 15-member body every month.
“Like during the Cold War, we have reached a dangerous, perhaps even more dangerous limit,” he said.
UN Secretary General criticized Russia
UN Secretary General António Guterres stated at the meeting that Russian invasion of Ukraine “causing massive suffering and destruction to the country and its people” and fueling “the global economic upheaval caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.”
“Tensions between the major powers are at historically high levels. Such are the risks of conflict due to chance or miscalculation, ”Guterres said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
