
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced today that the British Armed Forces have removed British diplomatic staff and their families from Sudan.
“The British military has carried out a complex and quick expulsion from Sudan of British diplomats and their families,” Rishi Sunak tweeted.
“We continue to look for all solutions to end the bloodshed in Sudan and ensure the safety of British citizens who remain in the country,” the British Prime Minister added.
British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace specified that the UK carried out this operation “together with the United States, France and other allies.” It involved “over 1,200 troops” from the British Armed Forces.
France and other countries also announced today the expulsion of their citizens.
U.S. President Joe Biden, for his part, announced that the U.S. military had “conducted an operation to remove U.S. government personnel from Khartoum.”
