“Unfortunately, the situation in Sudan remains serious, so I once again call for an early end to violence and following the path of dialogue,” the pontiff said during a traditional Sunday prayer in St. Peter’s Square. .

“I call on the whole world to pray for our brothers and sisters in Sudan,” he added.

Since April 15, the two generals who came to power after the 2021 coup have launched a relentless war in Sudan.

The violence, mainly in Khartoum and Darfur, in the west of the country, has claimed the lives of more than 420 people and more than 3,700 injured, according to the World Health Organization.

They even provoked him displacement of tens of thousands of people to other states of Sudan or outside the country, to Chad and Egypt. They also led countries to mobilize to expel their citizens.
