The crime was allegedly committed in Corino, Pieria, the victim was a 71-year-old woman from Chalcedona, and the perpetrator was her 34-year-old son, who was arrested in the morning in the Toumba district of Thessaloniki.

According to police sources, the defendant, after killing his mother, allegedly drove her to Chalcedon outside Thessaloniki, where he abandoned her near the local cemeteries.

According to the results of a forensic medical examination, it was established that an elderly woman received a gunshot wound to the head, while the offender shot her point-blank.

The woman’s body was discovered on the morning of April 4, 2023, at which time the investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office for crimes against life of the Thessaloniki Police Department began. The police established all the elements of the crime and were looking for traces of a 34-year-old man.

For a month, the accused of matricide seems to have wandered around the different districts. In the morning, the residents of Toumba reported to the police about a wandering man, whose presence in their area was unknown and they considered him suspicious. During the ensuing police check, it was determined that he was a matricide and he was arrested.

According to the information, he will be brought to apologize to the courts of Katerini, since the crime was committed in the area of ​​Pieria.
