The Austrians from PORR in November 2021 signed a contract worth about 1.7 billion lei for the construction of 9.86 kilometers of motorway between Curtia de Arges and Tigweni – part 4 of the A1 Sibiu – Pitesti. In March 2022, the contractual term of 16 months of design expires, but already now the Minister of Transport declares that the contractor will start work sooner.

  • “They should introduce these weeks for works. They have completed the design phase, they will begin work and Sector 4 will also be attacked,” Sorin announced to Grindeanu on Friday.

In this section, Porr will also have to build a 1,350-meter long tunnel under Momaia Hill, one of the longest tunnels on the A1 highway and practically the first tunnel to be built in Romania.

User “Marinul” from the forum peundemerg.ro, a place that brings together many members of the Pro Infrastructure association, filmed with a drone the route Section 4 Kurtja de Arges – Tigveny and marked on the video the places where all the works of art will be done: bridges, viaducts and Momaya Tunnel.

Sibiu – Pitesti highway, section 4, work on which will begin in 2023

“The video contains an explanation of the 1.35 km long Momai Tunnel and the main bridges/viaducts. Obviously, the location of the structures is approximate/schematic in order to have an idea of the rather high complexity of the route,” reports Pro Infrastructura, which states that on March 16, a construction permit was issued on the site of the village. question.

“According to our information, in the near future the contractor will go to the field, but so far only for the organization of the site and for embankments and structures. We will see traffic in the tunnel no earlier than August,” says API.

“At the moment, the implementation has a deadline of December 2026, counting from the date of issuance of the building permit, but if you take into account the bureaucratic steps and the complexity of the works, it is likely that the opening will be delayed for a long time. 2027, hopefully no later than the summer of 2027,” Pro Infrastructure notes.
