The reigning champion started the first set weakly, and two-time Grand Slam finalist Karolina Pliskova took a 4-0 lead. Iga fought back to 5-4, but could not return the score against the athlete from the Czech Republic.
In the next two sets, Svyatek lived up to her status as the tournament favorite, winning clearly, losing only three games.
In the semi-finals, Poland’s Iga Sviatek (1 WTA) will meet Tunisia’s Ons Jaber (4 WTA).
The tournament in Stuttgart is part of the WTA 500 category, takes place on closed grounds, has a total prize money of $780,637, and the title champion is Iga Sviatek (she won the title in 2022).
