Viorel Moldovan claims that tiki-taka was not invented by Barcelona, but by FC Nantes
Viorel Moldovan won the French championship with FC Nantes in his first season with the team he played for between 2000 and 2004.
The former Romania international, who is described by the French as a combinative, determined and always well positioned player, gave an interview to the club’s official website in which he expressed an interesting opinion about how the team played in the past.
“FC Nantes marked the history of French and even international football. It is a legendary club that has won titles and is respected.
The game has left its mark on world football in the past, and I am not afraid to say it: I am convinced that it was not FC Barcelona that invented tiki-taka, but FC Nantes.” – said Viorel Moldovan for the club page.
Made famous at Barcelona during Pep Guardiola’s tenure, the tiki-taka style involves a lot of short passing and possession.
Over the years, former Romania internationals Florin Bratu, Claudio Caceru, Benel Nicolice and Ciprian Tetarushanu have also played for FC Nantes.
