Mitsotakis: “Political monster” – the government of losers

The “political monster” characterized the possibility of a “government of losers.” Kyriakos Mitsotakiswhich currently visits Nafplio and Mycenae.

Speaking of the election, he expressed confidence that “there will be a big winner in the elections on the evening of May 21, because today there is simply only one credible proposal for governance: the New Democracy proposal for self-government. a confident Greece with a self-sufficient New Democracy.”

On the contrary, speaking of the other sounding proposals, the prime minister said that “they are lost in the corridors of underground deals, fantasies about progressive governments,” governments of losers.

Then, speaking about this scenario and its rebuttal by the official leader of the opposition, Mr. Mitsotakis stated that he did not believe a single word of what Mr. Tsipras was saying.

“Pay attention to this very carefully: two top managers of SYRIZA did not hesitate to say yesterday that “of course we will be second, that is, defeated, we will try, if the beans come out, to form a government with PASOK. and Measure25″. And when the opposition leader himself says that this cannot be done, I tell you, I do not believe a single word of what Mr. Tsipras says,” he stressed.

And he added: “If the beans come out, have no doubt that he will try to make this kind of “political monster”, bypassing the first party and trying to form a government, be careful now, with Tsipras as prime minister, Varoufakis as finance minister again, possibly a representative of the Antonaros government. I don’t know what else we can see.”

At the same time, Kyriakos Mitsotakis noted that the only way to prevent such a possibility is for the New Democracy to be strong in the first vote on May 21, “so that we can continue, as I heard, to domesticate the country even more.”

“We have put things in order in this four-year period. We are facing unprecedented challenges: pandemics, migration crises, an aggressive neighbor, a war in Ukraine, a global accuracy crisis. We supported citizens, especially the weakest ones, and we could and did it precisely because the economy was growing rapidly, we created a surplus of growth that we always honestly returned to citizens. Because I don’t want you to forget that the New Democracy is the great people’s party of the country and as a people’s party it must support all our fellow citizens, especially the weakest fellow citizens. And we are putting it into practice, because this is a real social, progressive policy,” the Prime Minister said.

“Election Dilemma”

“What happens at the national level ultimately affects the local level, on the income of each of you. That is why it is so important that this trajectory of the country’s development continues and that we do not deviate from this path, so as not to return to those times that we want to forget,” he further pointed out.

In this context, Mr. Mitsotakis stated that the election dilemma is very clear: “Are we going to keep moving forward or turn back?” Are we going to continue into an era where we are supporting disposable income, raising wages, cutting taxes, or going back to an era where we are once again taxing the farmers, the middle class? Will we continue the path of a strong Greece defending its borders, or will we return to the days of open borders and “a sea that doesn’t even have borders”? Will we remain the main actors in Europe? Self-confident Greece that can claim and support its national interests, or we will always come to Europe as beggars to negotiate support programs in which – listen, friends, I think this is of particular importance.

And stressed: “With certainty, if Mr. Tsipras ever wins the election, which will not happen, but if he won the election and tried to implement the economic program he announced, the country would be bankrupt within a month. We will return to the memories, to the times that we left behind forever. We tell him: “No, thanks, we won’t take it.”

Accounting for government work

“We want to talk about the report on our work, because this is the best guarantee of the trust of citizens, so that they believe in us, that what we tell you, we will do in the next four years, we will actually implement them,” he said. . Kyriakos Mitsotakis at Mycenae, addressing the citizens who had gathered to greet him.

“My conscience is very clear as I embark on this new journey to the Greek people to ask them once again to sign a new agreement to establish the truth in the relationship of the New Republic with Greek society. We have kept the nation’s ship stable and secure in the midst of unprecedented crises. And at the same time, we have implemented all the main directions of our election program. And compare this course of this four-year period with what happened in the previous four-year period. With promises to break the memorandums that led to the third memorandum, with higher taxes, with the dissolution of the middle class,” he added.

“So we are here at any time to be judged and compared. We are not looking for conflict or toxicity. We let our adversaries sink into the stinking pits they dug themselves. We are not going to follow them in this tactic. We also never intend to stigmatize entire factions with vulgar and offensive hashtags due to the behavior of some of their leaders. They did it for us. But let’s not forget. They did it for us when they accused a whole faction of being alleged pedophiles and rapists and everything else that you can imagine from the behavior of individuals.

“We are not going to play this game, and I will ask you during the pre-election period to avoid this kind of toxicity as much as possible. The townspeople don’t want that. They don’t want this confrontation. Citizens have problems. They know perfectly well that the country has not become a paradise. I didn’t order miracles for you when I was elected in ’19. I promised hard work and measurable results, and right now we can be proud that what we ordered, we delivered.”

“Therefore, it is important, because the pre-election period will officially begin tomorrow. Our leaders should talk about our work and, of course, present our program for the next four years, about how we will continue on the path of development, about how we will increase salaries and incomes for all Greek women, for all Greeks, how we will invest in our health, which needs a radical intervention to make the National Health System worthy of your expectations. implement regional development,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Artwork by Marina Nafplio

During his visit to Mycenae and Nafplio, the Prime Minister attended the signing of a contract for the construction of an axis of roads that will connect the Argolis network to the A7 “Morea” motorway, which is the “backbone” of the Peloponnese and was in a place where another infrastructure project will be developed, marina of Nafplio.

Mitsotakis:

“We have invested a lot in blue tourism in general as a country. A few days ago, I was also in the Ionian Sea, where relevant important investments are being made. But here for Nafplion, a city of such great historical importance for our country, for a natural tourist destination 12 months a year, this marina, I believe, will add a very important development potential. And, as you said, in fact, it will serve not only Nafplion, but the entire region as a whole. Investments that will be modern, environmentally friendly, as I see it and as all European standards now require,” the Prime Minister said.

The project, implemented by the Peloponnese region, provides for the construction of a tourist marina with a capacity of more than 200 berths with the possibility of mooring boats from 8 to 12 meters long. The investment in the first phase is estimated at 25 million euros and will cover a sea area of 73 hectares, while at the same time foreseeing the regeneration of a wider land area.

In Dervenakia behind the new road axle

Earlier, the Prime Minister attended the signing ceremony for a connecting section of the road in the Dervenakia region, through which the seamless connection of the roads and cultural pillars of Argolis to the national network will be completed.

“I know that this was a big backlog for the Argolis, a section of the road that was not at all safe, and in good agreement with the Region, we are also solving this backlog.

Mitsotakis:

“Today we are signing the relevant contracts so that the project can start immediately, and in two years there would be safe access to Argolis. Something extremely important for Argos, for Nafplio, for Mycenae, for the entire development of the region.

»The last outstanding issue regarding the main road networks of the region, which is also being addressed. So let me reiterate that in general we have very good cooperation with the region,” Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at the contract signing event.

The 7 km axis is part of the New Provincial Archaeological Promotion Road. This will significantly improve road safety based on European standards, facilitate travel to Central Greece, central and southern Peloponnese, and at the same time promote tourism and broader economic development in the region.

The project costs €37.2 million and is expected to be completed within two years.
