“New evidence has been discovered that requires further investigation and forensic examination. Thus, we exonerate Mr. Baldwin of manslaughter charges. This does not relieve Mr. Baldwin of any criminal responsibility and re-prosecution may be initiated,” said the two prosecutors in the case, Carrie Morrissey and Jason Lewis.
As an initial reaction, Alec Baldwin uploaded a photo to Instagram of him hugging his wife Hilaria. “I owe everything to this woman (and to you, Luke),” he wrote, referring to one of his two lawyers, Luke Nikas.

Baldwin, 65, pointed a .45 Colt pistol at the director during filming on October 21, 2021, when the gun went off, killing her and injuring director Joel Souza.
In January, he was charged with two counts of negligent homicide in connection with the death of Galina Hutchins and the wounding of Souza. The actor was accused of “reckless” disregard for safety on the set of the film.
Just yesterday, filming of Rust resumed in Montana, 18 months after the tragic incident.
