Axios: Israel will test a missile attack warning system in Ukraine

The Israeli military plans to try in Kyiv An early warning system for a missile attack next month should be in place by summer, two Ukrainian and Israeli officials told Axios.

The civilian early warning system, which will be linked to Ukrainian military radar and air defense networks, will be able to send updates faster to Ukrainian citizens in areas targeted by the Russians.

The size difference between Ukraine and Israel means the Israelis will have to make adjustments and tests to make things work. If the tests are successful, the system will work in Ukrainian cities with a population of more than 1 million people, such as Kharkiv, Kyiv and Odessa.

Until recently, Israel categorically refused to supply weapons to Ukraine, although the Israeli authorities have repeatedly and unequivocally condemned Russian aggression. On January 19, Secretary of State Eli Cohen assured Kyiv of continued humanitarian assistance.

After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to power, he told CNN in early February that he did not rule out his country supplying Ukraine with the Iron Dome air defense system.

According to some Western countries, as well as Kyiv, Iran is supplying unmanned combat aircraft to Russia, which the latter uses to attack Ukraine. However, Moscow and Tehran deny such cooperation.
