Videos of dramatic battles in the trenches on the “road of life” leading to Bakhmut have circulated on social networks. Dramatic footage shows how Ukrainian defenders from the Wolves of Da Vinci group fight with Russian soldiers storming the positions.

The video, which has gained millions of views, was shot from the first person, presumably with the camera mounted on the helmet of a Ukrainian soldier.

“Action” begins casually, the main soldier-hero goes into a covered trench where several Ukrainian soldiers are hiding. The images show at least one soldier who appears to be dead.

A few seconds later, there is a loud explosion at the mouth of the trench, and the Ukrainian serviceman who was closest to the exit is thrown to the ground. After that, he raises his hand and signals that he is all right after the explosion.

However, soon the situation takes a dramatic turn: Russian soldiers begin an assault on Ukrainian positions.

The soldier filming this scene pokes his head out of the trench and, along with a fellow soldier, begins firing at close range at the Russians as they advance toward their positions. One encounter stands out: a Russian soldier, who is only a few meters from the entrance to the trench, manages to throw a grenade at the Ukrainians, receiving several direct shots.

Then, in other shots, wounded Russian soldiers slide to the ground and are neutralized by Ukrainian defenders, as the firefight continues on both sides.

The footage, lasting over 11 minutes, shows all the chaos of those moments when the gunfights took place at close range.

Although it is not visible from the footage, but from the shouts of the soldiers it seems that the Russian assault was not successful.
