Alina Gorgiou, interim president of the Senate, said on Wednesday night in Prima News that the law on special pensions will be passed in this parliamentary session, showing that a consensus has been reached and all of them, the political class, have come to the conclusion that it should be adjusted special pensions , reports News.ro.

“No one agrees that the pension should not be higher than the last salary,” Gorgiou said, blaming the Ministry of Labor, which was slow to draft the bill.

Alina Gorgiu noted that the last consultations with the Commission regarding special pensions are ongoing, so changes will be made in the Chamber of Deputies depending on the comments received.

“I am convinced that at this session of the parliament (the project will be adopted, no). The final form will be based on this institutional feedback,” Gorgiou said, clarifying that we are not at risk of losing money from the PNRR.

“Since we have this PNRR, we hear every day in the Romanian press that money is being lost from the PNRR. (..) They cannot be reduced, they must be taxed, this formula must be found, agreed upon, the entire political world, we all came to a very clear conclusion that these special pensions must be adjusted, no one agrees that the pension must be higher than the last salary paid. (..)

We undertook to reform these pensions. This time, all options and formulas are being analyzed, taking into account the impact the amendments will have, we still have a little patience, we don’t want to blame ourselves for hastily doing things left and right, special pensions should be clearly defined. set,” she said.

Regarding military pensions, Gorgiou noted that, in his opinion, these are not special pensions.

“Throughout Europe, the military has a special status, but not in a derogatory sense, but due to the profession, due to the contribution to the security system in Romania and the rest of the countries, the analysis should be done separately, and there are arguments. (..) I think that here we are talking about consensus at the coalition level,” she said.

Regarding claims that we will lose 700 million euros if we do not reform special pensions, Alina Gorgiou revealed that “there was some delay and the responsible Ministry of Labor, which was slow to draft the bill.”

“If you look at the table with those responsible, the Ministry of Labor is responsible for pensions. This is reality. When you took over as Minister of Labour, you knew that you also have retirement pensions, that you also need to develop a wage law, they are the benchmarks in the PNRR, we will all have to put our shoulders down, have a good, tailor-made the law is good because it will affect all of us,” Gorgiou said.
