Norwegian authorities have seized more than 100 kg of cocaine.
As ERT reported, six people from Albania were arrested in the case. In particular, the criminal group, consisting of five men and one woman, tried to smuggle over 100 kilograms of cocaine of Brazilian origin through the port.
This is reportedly the largest amount of cocaine ever seized in western Norway.
Foreign media reports that the cargo ship Nordloire sailed from Vila do Conde, Brazil, to the port of Husnes in Quinherad, Norway.
A quantity of drugs was attached below the ship’s waterline. Customs described the way in which drugs are concealed by criminal gangs as well known.
Albanians were arrested on Thursday by police in Husnes, the largest village in the municipality of Kvinherad in the province of Vestland in Norway. On Friday, they were sentenced to four weeks in jail.
All of them are charged with serious crimes related to drug trafficking. According to Norwegian customs, they have nothing to do with the ship itself, and some of the detainees pleaded not guilty.
