British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is under investigation by the Parliamentary Standards Service as to whether he followed the rules regarding his wife’s participation in a child care and welfare company that was supposed to benefit from the new government policy.

Opposition parties have questioned reports that Sunak’s wife, Aksata Murti, was a shareholder in a company that will receive government support for childcare announced in the March budget.

“We will facilitate an investigation to make sure everything was declared transparently.” Sunak’s spokesman said.

The investigation, Reuters commented, “embarrasses” Sunak, who took office in October promising to lead government “at all levels” with integrity to give his party a boost ahead of national elections next year.

OUR Sunak and Murthy are the richest tenants to pass through Downing Street.. Murthy is the daughter of one of the founders of the Indian “giant” Infosys and owns about 0.9% of the company.

The commissioner in charge of the case did not provide details of the investigation. It is noted that his duties are related to the observance of the Code of Conduct of the House of Commons and he investigates any violations.

According to the code of conduct, members of parliament must provide information about financial interests that may affect their work in parliament.

If an investigation reveals a violation, the commissioner can ask Sunak to apologize and take steps to avoid similar incidents in the future, or send him to a committee that has the option of even expelling him from parliament.
