After several electrified SUVs and the famous MG4, the Sino-British manufacturer returns to the forefront with a product that is, to say the least, attractive, MG Cyberster. 12 years after saying goodbye to the MG F/TF (more than 100,000 units were produced in 16 years), the brand presents a new roadster at the Shanghai Motor Show.
After several photos leaked online and a concept car, the Cyberster offers its first official presentation to the public, but to see it on our roads, we will have to wait until the summer of 2024.

Look to the future, but also to the past
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Cyberster. A few days ago, the first photos and the first information were published on the website of the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Technology.
At 4.54 meters long and 1.33 meters tall, the Cyberster has fairly classic proportions for a roadster, with lines reminiscent of the thermal models we know now, starting with the BMW Z4. The canvas roof is obviously a nod to the most classic roadsters, while the scissor-opening doors and Union Jack-like taillights complete the attractive body, to say the least.
There are no photos of the interior, but in some pictures you can see red leather seats with integrated headrests and a rather peculiarly shaped steering wheel.
Impressive numbers, but not necessarily in a good way
MG has not released details on the transmission. On the other hand, thanks to the “leaks” of the last days, we already know this The Cyberster will be offered in two versions with two electric motors. In the first one, we will find a 102 hp unit located at the front and a 218 hp engine. behind, in general 320 hp.
The second, more powerful, will have a front engine with a capacity of 204 hp, a rear unit with a capacity of 340 hp. 544 hp. In both cases, the top speed will be limited to 200 km/h, while there is no exact data on the range, acceleration and possible other options with only the rear engine location, thus making traction.
Weight, meanwhile, will be included from 1850 kg to 1985 kg depending on the version chosen, almost double that of the MG F/TF. It’s not enough to be very “roadster” in spirit with such a high mass, but MG is likely to take great measures from a technical point of view to make it a particularly fun car to drive.
There is no information about the price yet, but the first rumors are appearing base price around 50,000 euros for the 320 hp version
