After receiving long-awaited approval from the US aviation authority, SpaceX announced that it intends to launch the Starship spacecraft on Monday in its first test flight in full configuration, AFP reported, citing Agerpres.

Starship is a super heavy reusable spacecraft. It is the tallest and most powerful launch vehicle ever built. It consists of two components: a space vehicle – the upper stage, and a giant rocket – the lower stage, called Super Heavy, which sends the device into space.

The 120-meter-tall car was developed by Elon Musk’s company for several years for space missions beyond the Earth’s orbit, to the Moon and Mars.

The launch should take place from the Starbase space base, located in the southern part of the American state of Texas.

The 150-minute launch window opens Monday at 07:00 local time (12:00 GMT), SpaceX announced on Friday. If the release is pushed back to Monday, the other release dates are scheduled for the following week.

The results of the test are apparently inconclusive, but SpaceX announced in Elon Musk’s voice that the success of this test will be measured by “the number of lessons learned.”

“Maybe, success, admiration is guaranteed!” Elon Musk wrote on Twitter.

This spacecraft has never flown fully equipped.

The top part of the assembly, the Starship capsule, which gave the entire apparatus its name, was tested in a series of suborbital flights. This craft was selected by NASA to land on the moon as part of the Artemis space program.

On Friday, the US Civil Aviation Administration (FAA) issued Starship a flight license “valid for the next 5 years”.

In the future, the two stages of the spacecraft will be able to land in optimal conditions for reuse. But during the first test flight, both the Starship capsule and the superheavy rocket will fall into the ocean.

The idea of a fully reusable spacecraft, Elon Musk’s grand strategy, is to lower launch prices. Each Starship launch could cost “less than $10 million,” he said.

In February, SpaceX conducted an impressive ground test of super-heavy rocket engines. In total, 31 of the Raptor’s 33 engines were fired, “the most rocket engines fired simultaneously in history,” according to SpaceX.

A few months ago, NASA’s SLS rocket (98 meters tall) became the most powerful operational rocket in the world after its first flight during the Artemis 1 lunar mission. Next week, the SLS rocket could be launched by Elon Musk.
