Petrolul Ploiesti lost their chance to top the Superliga play-offs after a 0-2 home defeat to Cluj University in the fourth round.

After three consecutive victories in the play-out, “Petrol” suffered its first defeat on its own field.

On a rain-damaged pitch, former player Oleksandru Chipchu opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Yoan Ovidiu Sabau’s men doubled their lead six minutes later when Dan Nistor headed home from an inside free-kick.

After this victory, Cluj University scores 23 points, which is four more than the first position of the barrier.
