Thessaly-Magnesia: The ND seeks to preserve what has been acquired.

In the 2019 elections, the ND succeeded in changing the color of the electoral card in all four prefectures of Thessaly. In Anat. Thessaly, in the constituencies of Magnesia and Larisa, SYRIZA managed to win the previous elections. In Magnesia, the main opposition party won the elections in June 2012 and retained the top spot in the next two elections, in January and September 2015. In Larissa, she won both 2015 electoral contests.

In July 2019 in Magnesia, N.D. won 38.76% of the vote and won 4 seats, compared to 26.18% and one seat she won in September 2015. The far-right party managed to secure third place in Magnesia in two 2015 electoral contests. In the 2019 elections, its share fell to 3.89% from 8.46% in the previous elections. The third place in 2019 was taken by KINAL, which, however, failed to elect a member of parliament.

In the constituency of Larisa, the ruling party won 39.30% in the last elections, which secured 3 seats compared to 27.99% and 2 seats in September 2015. In the 2019 elections, KINAL (8.79%), KKE (6.25%) and Hellenic Solution (4.34%) won one seat each in Larissa. From the ruling party, all MPs elected in 2019 will be re-candidates in Magnesia, namely Christos Boukoros, Zetta Makri, Athanasios Liupis and Konstantinos Maraveias, as well as Christos Trianthopoulos, Efi Antoniou and Urania Katinioti. During the vote for PASOK in Magnesia, there was a coup. The candidacy of Dr. Nikos Oturas, who was also a candidate in 2019 and won first place in the voting for the party, was withdrawn after the Tempi tragedy, when his name appeared in the inspector’s license case. Larisa station.

In the constituency of Larisa in the ND ballot. the three MPs elected in 2019, namely Maximos Charakopoulos, Christos Kellas and Stella Biziou, are participating again. Other candidates are Christos Kapetanos, Rena Karalariotou, Thanasis Paidis, Frosso Hatzikonstantinou, Nikos Dolas, Dimitra Papanikolaou, Christos Hatsisalatas and Nikos Kardulas.

Different scenarios are heard for the two open positions on the bulletins. Alexis Tsipras was a candidate in this region in 2019, and he may again be a candidate in Larisa, which is a symbolic step for the importance given to the rural population. It is also reported that an attempt was made to convince the mayor of Agia Antonis Gundaras to run as a candidate of the main opposition party, which, however, is unwilling to move from self-government to the central political arena.

PASOK’s candidate again will be Evangeli Liakoulis, while Panagiotis Nasiokas, the son of former minister Hector Nasiokas, is also running for office. Giorgos Lambroulis will again be the candidate of the KKE. Kyriakos Velopoulos decided to keep Larisa’s seat in the previous elections, a decision that provoked a strong reaction from the first cross-candidate, Nasioula Nasikas.
