Katerina Helmi was born in Athens on August 12, 1939.

She became widely known for her roles in some of the most beloved films of Greek cinema.

Her first film appearance was in 1957’s The Barbarian Jug, but her biggest success was in Red Light, where she uttered the line “Don’t go, Dory, I’ll be cured.” She also competed with Aliki Vougiouklakis in the film Our Love.

During her career, she has appeared in more than 25 films and 4 television series. He has also contributed to several books.

Her husband was professor and academician Konstantinos Svolopoulos.

Unlike her husband Konstantinos Svolopoulos, who was a close friend of Konstantinos Karamanlis and director of the Karamanlis Foundation, Katerina Helmi was politically active in PASOK as a member of the Union of Artist-Scholars. In the municipal elections of 1994, he was elected as the Municipal Councilor of the Municipality of Athens from the faction of Theodore Pagalos.
