​Yannik Sinner made a great start to his match against Holger Roon, but the Darren Cahill-coached Italian lost momentum and was beaten by the Dane in the semi-finals of the Monte Carlo Masters.

Yannick Sinner defeated Holger Roon in the ATP semi-finals in Monte Carlo

Grisnyk (seeded No. 7) won the first set 6-1 and appeared to have an easy victory, but former student Patrik Muratoglu came back to win the next set 7-5, 7-5.

The game was very spectacular and lasted two hours and 41 minutes.

  • Roon (seeded No. 6) will fight for the big trophy with Andriy Rublev (5).
  • Holger is the youngest player (he turns 20 on April 29) to reach the Monte Carlo Masters final since Rafael Nadal in 2006.

The Monte Carlo tournament will take place from April 9 to 16 on clay, with a total prize pool of €5,779,335. The champion of the last two events is Stefanos Tsitsipas, while Rafael Nadal is the authoritative leader in terms of trophies won: 11.
