Daniil Medvedev managed to qualify for the quarterfinals of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte Carlo, defeating Alexander Zverev (16 ATP) in three sets with the score of 3-6, 7-5, 7-6(7).

Daniil Medvedev, hard-fought victory against Alexander Zverev at ATP Monte Carlo

After an excellent run this year, crowned with titles in Rotterdam, Doha, Dubai and Miami, Medvedev had a very tough match against Alexander Zverev of Germany.

The first set belonged to Zverev, who did not give many chances to the fifth racket of the world.

In the second set, Medvedev recovered and managed to take the upper hand to the tie-break.

This was not the case in the third set, which was finally decided on a tie-break in favor of the Russian after 9-7.

Daniil Medvedev will meet Dane Holger Rune (9 ATP) in the quarterfinals.

The Monte Carlo Masters takes place from April 9 to 16 on clay, has a total prize pool of €5,779,335, with Novak Djokovic as the top favorite and Stefanos Tsitsipas the champion of the last two tournaments.
