UK: Activists ‘threaten’ Grand National races

It is one of the most important horse racing festivals in the world, the Grand National, which attracts more than 154,000 spectators every year for three days. Since it was first held in 1839, it has become an institution in the UK and has become the greatest steeplechase on earth.

However, this year he is in “threat” status. Animal rights activists argue that the event represents a “broken relationship” between humans and horses due to the potential dangers the latter face.

The race, which has been modified in recent years to alleviate animal safety concerns, features 40 horses that gallop 7.3 miles and jump over 30 small car-sized obstacles.

Animal Rising is launching its biggest animal welfare campaign this month and suggests it plans to disrupt this year’s Grand National, which takes place on April 15 at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool, UK.

Last month, a reporter for the British newspaper The Mail on Sunday allegedly reported on the team’s plans to disrupt the match. The report details how the organization planned to help many people onto the track in hopes of preventing the race from starting.

Animal Rising says the exposure won’t stop them from completing their mission of raising public awareness of what they call unethical practices.

The local police say they have been working with the organizer of the race, the Jockey Club, for several months to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.

“We respect the right to peaceful protest and expression, but disorderly conduct or criminal offenses are unacceptable and will be dealt with harshly,” a police spokesman said, also publishing recommendations this week for the safety of racetrack visitors.
