During a two-day operational action held in Heraklion.

According to a statement by the Greek Police, as part of the wider operational planning of the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete to combat illicit trafficking in counterfeit products and alcoholic beverages in two storage rooms.

There they were found and confiscated.

• 10,248 imitation glasses of famous brands,
• 26,810 imitations of clothes and shoes, as well as
• 34,200 company labels (brands) of various companies.

In this context, two people were arrested of Greek origin for the illegal importation, distribution and sale of counterfeit products and against them filed a case for forgery, acceptance and distribution of criminal products, as well as violation of the law on unfair competition and trademarks.

In addition, they were imposed on them by the SDOE General Directorate/Directorate Attica Operations/Sub-Directorate B’/Department VIII. administrative fines totaling EUR 200,000while the amount of financial losses for the beneficiaries of the trademarks so far amounts to 3,170,907 euros.

Seizure of counterfeit alcohol

At the same time, in the field of trade in alcoholic products, it was established that the illegal circulation of ethyl alcohol, the total amount 23,000 liters of anhydrous. As it turned out, the audited organization was supposed to store the indicated amount of ethyl alcohol in the customs-controlled zone of the tax warehouse instead. he replaced it with water in order to mislead the regulatory authorities, since the established customs payments were not paid for this already allocated amount.

In this case, the chemical services took samples from the pallet containers to control the contents, and the co-competent AADE services will be informed about the calculation of customs and tax penalties. At the same time, it is estimated that the amount of damage caused by the Greek government exceeds 650,000 euros.

Arrested persons against whom a criminal case has been initiated are brought to the competent body of the prosecutor’s office.
