
Seven people were arrested today by the Greek police after checks carried out in a working area on the island Mykonosin accordance with the document sent by the Corps of Building Inspectors of the Ministry of Environment and Energy to the competent prosecutor’s office.
He then ordered the YDOM of Syros to carry out inspections, during which it was found that new buildings had been erected in the area without the necessary supporting documents.
From 04.03 to 04.06 and from 04.10 to today, 04.12, inspections were carried out at mixed levels of the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Economic Police throughout Mykonos. A total of 10 autopsies were performed on complaints.
During an on-site inspection carried out on April 4, 2023 by a joint team of the Ministry of the Interior in the “Psarou” area of Mykonos Municipality, the following was found:
- Construction in progress of a new two-story building in a protected area (at a distance of less than 100 m from the coastline, parts of which are located in the coastal zone and the beach zone, without a building permit. The plan, dimensions, total area, internal layouts and views do not correspond to those stated in №№ 10366407. Stage of work at the time of inspection: Plumbing and electrical work.
- Ground floor building with a toilet within the security zone and at a distance of less than 100 m from the sea line, the outlines, dimensions, total area, internal layouts and views of which do not correspond to those stated in the Application. Stage of work at the time of inspection: Plumbing and electrical work.
- Ground floor building within the security zone and at a distance of less than 100 m from the sea, in respect of which no signs of legality were found during the inspection. Stage of work at the time of inspection: Completed.
- Ground floor building within the security zone and at a distance of less than 100 m from the sea, in respect of which no signs of legality were found during the inspection.
- Placement of two CONTAINERS within the security zone and at a distance of less than 100 m from the coastline.
- Placement of three tanks with a height of 2.2 m within the buffer zone and at a distance of less than 100 m from the coastline.
Today, in the presence of the prosecutor of Syros, a new autopsy was carried out in the above area, where it was established that the work was carried out without permission, and a self-examination procedure was initiated. 5 people who were doing the work were detained. Two heads of the enterprise were also detained. The automatic procedure was carried out immediately, and materials and machines found during illegal operations were confiscated.
The work was ordered to stop immediately.
The case is at the stage of preliminary investigation.
