Returning to the track after a one-year break, giving birth to a girl, Svitolina won the first victory after the temporary end of her career.
The first set was even until the end, when the Ukrainian, who has a WTA rating of 1344, missed two set points.
In the second set, Svitolina controlled the match and lost no less than four match points against the seventh-seeded Gabriela Ruse.
The game lasted one hour and 23 minutes.
In the 1/8 finals of the ITF W60 Chiasso, Elina Svitolina will meet with Oleksandra Kadantsu-Ignatik, who beat Oleksandra Eala in the first round with a score of 6-0, 6-2.
