Aleksey Moskalev, resident of Tula region, detained in Minsk, persecuted because of his daughter’s anti-war cartoon, was extradited to Russia. This was reported on Wednesday, April 12, by the publication OVD-Info, referring to a local human rights activist who tried to visit Alexei in prison No. 8 in Zhodino.

Prison officials declined to comment to journalists on Moskalev’s whereabouts. His lawyer, Vladimir Bilienko, also received no information about his client’s extradition.

pursuit by design

Aleksey Moskalev is the father of Masha Moskaleva, a sixth grader who drew an anti-war cartoon at her school with the words “No to war” and “Glory to Ukraine”. Then a protocol was drawn up against Moskalev for “discrediting” the army due to comments on the Odnoklassniki social network, and in December 2022 a criminal case was opened for repeated “discrediting”.

In March 2023, Moskalev was sentenced to two years in prison, but escaped house arrest and was detained in Minsk a few days later. Belarusian security forces allegedly found him because he turned on his cell phone.

Masha Moskaleva was first taken to a shelter, and on April 5 she was handed over to her mother, whom she had not seen for about 4 years.
