“Immediately reinforce the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades with personnel in order to strengthen the archaeological control in Mykonos and that in no case should the responsibilities of the regional service be transferred to the central service of the Ministry of Antiquities in violation of the Organization”, they call, among other things, the Ministry of Culture and Sports with their joint statement, the Association Greek Archaeologists, the United Association of Staff of the Ministry of Attica and the Islands, and the Panhellenic Union of the Keepers of Antiquities.

The YPPOA unions express their gratitude to the local community of Mykonos for their support in their fight “for not covering up the mafia attack on the archaeologist Manolis Psarros and for removing the causes that give rise to such mafia attacks.”

“Pandimi was the condemnation of the beating of our colleague and the threats received by another colleague via SMS, as well as the desire to support the work of the Archaeological Service in Mykonos and isolate those financial interests that operate illegally and arbitrarily, even using mafia methods. This was expressed both in the unanimous decision of the Mykonos Municipal Council no. 65/2023, as well as at the meeting of the authorities 27/3 in Gripario, where the mayor, vice-mayors, municipal councilors, regional councilors, party representatives, representatives of trade unions, representatives of the cultural associations of the island, citizens attended and spoke teachers, guides, businessmen ‘, say the trade unions, among other things.

At the same time, they express their satisfaction “for the publication of the issue of arbitrariness and constructions in violation of archaeological legislation” and expect “the enforcement of the law in Mykonos and all the islands of the Cyclades in order to protect the natural and cultural landscape and the stability of the islands.”
